The Vikings are coming to town this week for the Indians homecoming game, both teams searching for their second win of the season. West has dominated this series as of late, but the Indians are hoping to turn things around. North is led by Senior Mason Perez, who basically does it all for the Indians. West will be led by Armani Williams who has already passed for over 300 yards this season.
Last ten meeting between SMN/SMW
2000 SMN 21 SMW 14
2001 SMN 7 SMW 19
2002 SMN 20 SMW 7
2003 SMN 42 SMW 14
2004 SMN 10 SMW 16
2005 SMN 0 SMW 51
2006 SMN 0 SMW 49
2008 SMN 0 SMW 28
2009 SMN 7 SMW 49
2010 SMN 0 SMW 41
As you can see West has won the last 6 meetings with ease. Since 2004 the Vikings have outscored the Indians 234-17.
2011 SM West
So far this season the Vikings have only been victorious once. They opened the season with a surprising blowout loss to Lawrence 35-12. They then met the Cougars of Northwest, and in a very exciting overtime match up the Vikings were able to pull out the win 38-31. And in week three West met the top ranked Eagles of Olathe North. The Eagles were too much for the Vikings and pulled away early on route to a 48-21 win.
2011 SM North
The Indians opened off the season in exciting fashion. They stopped the Raiders of SM South on a 4th and goal to hold on to the win. North opened the season 1-0 after a 26-22 win over South. Week two the Indians met Olathe North, and the game was over by halftime. Olathe North cruised to a 45-7 win. In week three North played host of the "Nut Cup" game with rival SM East. After fumbling the opening kickoff things didn't get any better for the Indians. East put up 42 points(the most ever scored by them in a "Nut Cup" game. North lost the game 42-7.
Team Stats
Points for: West has the edge in points scored this season, as the Indians have struggled offensively thus far.
Shawnee Mission West- 71
Shawnee Mission North- 40
Points allowed: North has the slight advantage defensively. One things for sure both teams have given up a lot of points, and expect a shootout in this game.
Shawnee Mission West- 114
Shawnee Mission North- 109
My prediction for this seasons game is: Expect a high scoring game. North will rely on Mason Perez, and Ryan Theis to get things going. West will be counting on Armani Williams to pick apart the Indian defense.
Shawnee Mission West 35 Shawnee Mission North 21
