:00 OT- Burrows stopped short on third down. 4th and 3 for the Indians.

:00 OT- Burrows with a four yard run. 3rd and 2 for North.

:00 OT- Theis on a QB keeper, gains four yards. 2nd and 6 for the Indians.

:00 OT- Manning finds a hole on third and goal and gets into the end zone. Cougars go up first in overtime.

:00 OT- Danny Manning goes five yards on the first play. 2nd and goal from the 5. Second play Manning gets stuffed at the line by Mason Perez.

Northwest will start on offense first. NW will have it from the Indain 10 yard line.

:00 4th- Kick goes wide right! Overtime here we come!

:03 4th- Timeout Cougars, they'll kick the field goal to try and win it.

:13 4th- Manning with another 1st down run. Cougars have it 1st and 10 from the Indian 15.

1:00 4th- Cougar running back Danny Manning breaks a 14 yard run. Cougars have it 1st and 10 from the Indian 30.

2:11 4th- North tries to run their own flea flicker, intercepted by Danny Manning. Cougars take over at their own 49.

2:19 4th- 3rd and 11 for the Indians from their own 19.

3:09 4th- Cougars run a flea flicker, Dirks hits Luke Fields for a 30 yard touchdown pass. Cougars tie it up late in the fourth.

3:20 4th- North decided to pass on third down, ball goes incomplete. North back to punt, Cougars nearly block it. Northwest will have it 1st and 10 from the Indian 30.

3:25 4th- North forces two SMNW timeouts. 3rd and 22 for the Indians from their own 10 yard line.

3:54 4th- North trying to run some clock and force the Cougars to use timeouts.

4:13 4th- Big play coming up for the Cougars, 4th and 5. Cougars decide to punt, Indians take over at their own 22.

5:09 4th- Theis with his first mistake of the night, intercepted by Duan Johnson. Cougars take over at their own 34.

6:15 4th- Indian defense yet again comes up big, stopping the Cougars on 4th and 2. Indians will have the ball back at their own 44. Indian bench is going crazy, haven't seen this much passion from them all season.

8:11 4th- Theis hits Contreras for a 4 yard touchdown pass. Extra point is no good. Indians with 27 unanswered points.

9:15 4th- Burrows with a 15 yard run. 1st and goal for the Indians at the Cougar 5 yard line.

10:39 4th- Cougars fumble, Indians recover! North side of the stadium is going absolutely crazy. 1st and 10 for the Indians from the Cougar 29.

11:31 4th- Theis hits Perez for a 43 yard touchdown pass. Indians take the lead. What a huge momentum switch here by the Indians. Will we see the 10 year streak come to an end here tonight?

:17 3rd- Henry Bell goes 8 yards for another Indian first down. 1st and 10 from the Cougar 30.

1:22 3rd- A screen pass to Perez goes 4 yards for a North firstdown. Indians have it 1st and 10 from the Cougar 45.

2:52 3rd- Fair catch by Perez. Indians take over at their own 43.

3:35 3rd- North D comes up big and forces a three and out. Indians with the momentum right now.

4:36 3rd- Northwest attempts a fake punt, North defense blows the play up. North takes over 1st and 10 from the Cougar 37. Very next play Henry Bell takes it 37 yards for a North touchdown. This one ain't over yet.

6:11 3rd- Theis hits Perez on a 54 yard touchdown pass. Indians keeping it close.

9:01 3rd- Colton Dirks with a 7 yard QB keeper for a Cougar touchdown.

9:48 3rd- Austin Vanderpool takes a carry 44 yards. 1st and goal for the Cougars.

11:09 3rd- Henry Bell takes a carry 44 yards for a Indian touchdown.

11:54 3rd- Onside kick by the Indians to start the second half. North recovers at the Cougar 46.

:18 2nd- North fails to put up any points on the drive. A fourth down pass from Theis to Perez falls incomplete. Cougars have it 1st and 10 from their own 20.

1:41 2nd- Henry Bell has a 19 yard run for the Indians who are trying to show signs of life. 1st and 10 from the 50. Very next play Bell goes 22 yards for another 1st down. 1st and 10 from the Cougar 28.

2:58 2nd- Danny Manning with a 1 yard touchdown run. Northwest looking dominate in this one.

5:33 2nd- Colton Dirks hurting the Indians on the ground as well. Has a 12 yard carry, 1st and 10 for the Cougars from the Indian 21.

7:41 2nd- Cougars going to the air, working so far against North. 1st and 10 from the Indian 46.

10:19 2nd- Wilkes having trouble getting rid of the ball. North backed up 10 yards, forced to punt. Cougars have it 1st and 10 from their own 29.

3:36 1st- Perez nearly takes the kick back for a touchdown. Tackled by the kicker, North has it 1st and 10 from their own 38.

3:50 1st- After back to back scrambles that went nowhere by Wilkes, the Indians are forced to punt. Punt is blocked, and picked up by Kelby Quint who ran it back for about 18 yards for another Cougar touchdown.

6:09 1st- Colton Dirks takes a QB keeper 25 yards for a Cougar touchdown.

9:08 1st- 11 yard run by Cougar running back Danny Manning gives the Cougars a first down.

9:57 1st- Indians go three and out. Cougars have it 1st and 10 from their own 46 yard line.


12:00 1st- North will receive first. Back to receive is Matthew Maynard, and Mason Perez. SMNW with a huge opening kick, North will have it at their own 20. Wilkes still in at QB for the Indians.

As a former SMN student, the lack of a student section this year is insane. It's the biggest rivalry game, and it's districts, and so far only 20 SMN students are here.


14 minutes till kick. Both teams back in the locker room, just found out it's homecoming night for the Cougars. Always weird to watch a SMN/SMNW game at North with Northwest being the home team.

26 minutes till kick off. Senior quarterback Ryan Theis is back in pads for the Indians, but so far no reps. Expect to see alot of running in this game, neither team likes to air it out.

Welcome to the SMN Football blog post. We are live at the SMN District stadium for tonight's match up between the Indians and Cougars. Great night for football, absolutely beautiful weather here at the stadium. Northwest is in their home uniforms, orange jerseys, black pants and helmets. North in the road whites, white helmets and black pants. Last time the Indians beat the cougars was back in 2001. Tonights winner will have a great chance of winning Districts.
