Last week (4-2) Season (8-4)
Olathe East @ Lawrence- Lawrence High
Brad Strauss will have a hard time breaking the Olathe East defense, but overall I think the Strauss, Mayo, and Jenkins combo will be too much for OE to handle.
Adams Pick: Lawrence
SM Northwest @ Leavenworth- Leavenworth High
Should be one of the more competitive games of the Sunflower League this week. Both teams seem fairly even, and both are coming in on a one game loss. Leavenworth will need a big night from Jason Randall if the Pioneers want to prevail.
Adams Pick: Leavenworth
SM West @ Olathe North- ODAC
SM West has one of the best defenses in the Sunflower League this season, and if they can get their quarterback situation taken care of the Vikings could be a threat come playoff time. Olathe North so far hasn't lived up to the Gene Wier days of the past, but with a young team it's expected.
Adams Pick: SM West
SM East @ Olathe Northwest- CBAC
Jordan Darling showed everyone last week why he's a division one recruit as he lit up the Olathe North defense. Look for a similar showing this week from the Lancer quarterback as he faces off with one of the weaker defenses in the league. Don't be surprised if this one ends up a high scoring game as both offenses like to spread it out.
Adams Pick: SM East
SM North @ SM South- SMS High
Gabe Guild hasn't had a breakout performance yet this season and I expect this to change this week against SM North. Let's face it SMN just doens't have the talent to compete this year in the Sunflower League. This game in my opinion is turning into a rivalry game as past match ups have been very close and both teams are relatively even. With that said anyone can win a rivalry game, but this week I think SMS will be too strong for North.
Adams Pick: SM South
Game of the week:
Olathe South @ Lawrence Free State- Free State High
If you want to see football at it's finest this weekend you better head to Lawrence Free State as the Firebirds get ready to face top ranked Olathe South. In a game that boost two very talented offenses, both are complete opposites which makes things interesting. Olathe South has the wing T option attack while Free State looks to spread the ball out with quarterback Kyle McFarland. I think the main thing in this game will be if Braden Smith and the Falcon defense can put pressure on McFarland forcing turnovers and bad throws. If this happens South should roll, but if McFarland has time to make plays watch out as Free State can light up the scoreboard.
Adams Pick: Olathe South
